I Got a New Job and I Have No Idea What I'm Doing

But I'll Figure It Out on the Way

2015 just started and I don't have a choice when it comes to this new year's resolution—establish a new business unit at HLK that is effectively an angel investment portfolio.

Cool, right?

Yes. But I have no idea what I'm doing. My background is in political science, interactive design and brand strategy. Not in finance, business management, accounting, investing or any other discipline that would probably help me do my new job. I'm leaving everything I know and embarking on a new journey that will be fraught with failure and losses.

That's reminds me of another new year's resolution—don't be so damn scared to fail. I'm going to need to get good at that one despite a lifetime of being wired the opposite. Basically the only way I'm going to succeed is to accept that I'm going to fail along the way and commit to learning as much as I can while failing.

So, yeah...I got a new job and I have no idea what I'm doing. But I'll figure it out on the way.
